DC’s The Suicide Squad 2021 Movie – Storyline
Intelligence officer Amanda Waller assembles two Task Force X teams, colloquially known as the Suicide Squad, made up of inmates from Belle Rio, who agree to carry out missions for Waller in exchange for lighter sentences. They are sent to the South American island nation of Corto Malta after its government is overthrown by an anti-American regime, and are tasked with destroying the Nazi-era Jotunheim laboratory, which contains a secret experiment. It is called "Project Starfish". One team is led by Colonel Rick Flagg under Waller and upon landing Cartu is almost completely wiped out by the Maltese army. This distraction allows the other team to enter the country undetected. The other team is led by the killer Bloodsport, who accepts a mission to prevent his daughter from being imprisoned at Belle Rio, and consists of Pacemaker, King Shark, Polka-Dot Man, and Ratcatcher 2. Before I talk about the movie, let me talk a little bit about the DCEU. The difference between DC and Marvel (and why Marvel is more successful than DC) is the people behind them. The people/company behind Marvel (Disney) know and plan everything. They even planned this whole MCU thing since 2008's Iron Man. They know what they're doing, where they're hiding with characters, stories and movies, and how to do it right, and that's why their universe is so successful. But, for DC the people/company behind it (Warner Bros.) are ruining this beautiful universe full of great characters by bringing in the wrong people to direct/write their movies which makes the DCEU movies. Chaos ensues. Or they create problems with the right director like Zack Snyder (we all saw how he was building that big/creative universe in Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021) and where it was going). However, this time DC chose James Gunn to write and direct the film who, if you're not familiar, directed Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 (2014) and Vol. 2 (2017). And it's second proof (after Snyder) that when the right person/s are behind a movie, it's going to kill it. And this is what a "Suicide Squad" story should look like. And it's all thanks to James Gunn.
